First of all, a site must have a domain name that reflects its activity or must simply bear the name of its company. It is the provider who takes care of this step for those who outsource the development of their sites. In order for a site to be accessible every day and every hour, it must have a host to store its files and database. There are many kinds of hosting, a shared hosting is the best solution for beginners.
Second step: installation and settings of WordPress
Before installing WordPress, you must first secure your site to protect your data. You can install WordPress manually or automatically. Once installed, you need to customize the site by changing the title of the site and its slogan, the time zone (by selecting your capital from the list), and the date format (your preference). If you are building a blog site, leave the "Reading" tab as it currently is. Otherwise, select "A static page" to better define your page as the homepage. To complete the setting, go to Settings and click on Permalinks, then choose "Publication title" and save the changes.
Third step: adding and editing content
For bloggers, go to "Articles" and click on "Add". For the construction of pages, go to the menu " Pages " and then " Add ". On About: you can talk about yourself and your site, on Contact: you put your contact information, on Legal: you state whether your site is a professional publication or not. You have to go through an expert to have a professional privacy policy. To write content, you have to go to Articles and then click on Add. It is also possible to go to Pages and then to Add. It is possible to modify your content by going to the central part of the editor and clicking on "Save Draft". The blue button that says "Publish" or "Update" allows you to save your changes.
